Dining at The Star

The truly good things in life are a convergence of influences that cannot be replicated, but rather should be savored, cherished, and shared. Such is the Star of Greece.

Named after a shipwreck, Star of Greece guests will enjoy Mediterranean style of cuisine with plenty of seafood options, complemented by such dishes as beef fillet, pork, duck and vegetarian options using seasonal fresh produce.

Humble in appearance it may be, but this is a restaurant that doesn’t rely on grand architecture or pretension in terms of what it offers. Doug and Nikki Govan (formerly Nikki Seymour-Smith) consider themselves more as custodians rather than proprietors.

about us

‘The stunning summer turquoise waters of Gulf St. Vincent, the beach and cliffs, the seascapes that change with the seasons, and the history of a Star of Greece shipwreck belong to all who visit.

Our passion is to provide a dining experience of exceptional quality that complements this unique and stunningly beautiful part of South Australia’s coastline’

Fresh offerings from the sea and local produce are presented with a visual flair that excite without being a substitute for the essence of exceptionally good food is what the Star of Greece is all about, says Nikki whose background is an amalgam of food, wine, tourism, and a passion for excellence.

The wines on offer are a result of a similar philosophy, and Doug should know. With thirty years in the hospitality industry and proprietor of the nearby Sellick’s Beach Victory Hotel, with its esteemed restaurant and renowned wine cellar, Doug ensures that the Star of Greece has wines that complement the food, the location and the occasion.

The kiosk aspect of the Star of Greece is equally in tune with its setting. Simple fish and chips, the coldest of beers, or a mere ice cream invoke memories of beachside holidays of a bygone era for locals and interstate and international visitors alike. The Star of Greece is a jewel on the Fleurieu Peninsula.

A mere forty minute drive from Adelaide’s CBD a visit to The Star of Greece is truly a transforming experience.
